Hi, I'm Marion
I’ve been working with digital design for over 15 years, with a focus on clarity, creativity and thoughtful experiences.
I run Mythwood Creative, where I work closely with my clients to create bespoke WordPress websites and visual branding.
I offer an ongoing creative partnership to support long-term growth.
My assistant, Drake
Alongside MC, I work part-time at a leading online community agency, where I’ve spent more than a decade consulting, mentoring, and thinking strategically about how people connect online.
Outside work, you’ll often find me reading, writing, studying or playing Minecraft, usually with a coffee at hand and a cat on my lap.
What to expect
We start by understanding your goals, audience and context. This helps clarify what the website needs to do and what success looks like. We also decide on the right service and scope.
We map out the structure of the site, key pages and content sections. This is an important collaboration point, where your feedback helps shape the overall direction before design begins.
Based on our earlier conversations, I’ll research and create a mood board to explore visual ideas and define the overall design direction before detailed design begins.
I’ll design the website based on the agreed visual direction. We’ll use structured feedback rounds throughout the design process to review progress and keep things moving smoothly.
I build the website in WordPress based on the approved designs and structure. This includes setting up hosting, domain and core technical foundations, and implementing the design so it works smoothly across devices. At this stage the site becomes fully functional, with content, layouts and features coming together in a live environment.
I carry out final testing and refinements, and we review the site together to make sure everything looks and works as expected. Once everything is ready, your site can go live.
After launch, I either hand the site over to you with guidance, or continue supporting it through an ongoing plan.
Frequently asked questions about monthly plans
Monthly plans are a good fit if your website plays an ongoing role in your work and you want it properly looked after over time.
They’re ideal if you don’t want to manage hosting, updates, security or ongoing changes yourself, and prefer having a single, reliable point of contact who understands your site.
All monthly plans include ongoing care and support for your website, so it stays reliable, secure and well-maintained over time.
This covers managed hosting, technical upkeep and monitoring, with higher tiers adding dedicated monthly support for content updates, improvements and changes.
You can see the full details of each tier on the Services page.
Typical hosting packages focus on providing server space and automated tools. My monthly plans are a more hands-on service.
Your website is hosted, monitored and maintained by the same person who designed and built it, with real oversight. Issues are spotted early, decisions are made with context, and changes are handled thoughtfully rather than reactively.
Each tier builds on the previous one. All plans include the same technical care, while higher tiers include more dedicated monthly time for content updates, improvements and ongoing changes.
The difference is mainly in how active your site is and how much ongoing support you’d like each month.
Yes. Monthly plans have a six-month minimum commitment.
This helps ensure stability for both you and your website, allowing time for the site to settle, for improvements to take effect, and for ongoing care to be properly established.
If you need additional support, extra work can be handled at my standard hourly rate (£60/hour).
I’ll always flag this in advance so you can decide whether to proceed, or we can look at whether a different tier would be a better fit going forward.
Yes. You can move between tiers as your needs change.
If your site becomes more active or quieter over time, we can adjust the level of support so it continues to suit your situation.
If you decide to cancel after the minimum commitment, just let me know by email.
I’ll ensure everything is handed over cleanly so you can continue managing the site yourself or move it elsewhere. This includes preparing access, documentation and any guidance needed to make the transition smooth.
Frequently asked questions about one-off website projects
Smaller websites typically take around 4-8 weeks. Larger or more complex projects may take longer, depending on scope, content and how much collaboration is involved.
Once we’ve mapped everything out, I’ll confirm a realistic timeline so you know what to expect.
If branding support is included, that work happens first and adds some time before the website build begins.
We’ll start with an initial discussion to understand your goals, audience and priorities. I’ll guide you with clear questions, so you don’t need to arrive with everything fully figured out.
We’ll also cover whether you already have branding, existing content we can use (e.g. images, text), and any practical requirements for the site.
Feedback is built into the process at key points, such as structure and visual direction, before the site is fully built.
We use structured feedback rounds to keep decisions focused, avoid unnecessary rework and keep the project moving smoothly.
Once the site launches, you can either take over managing it yourself or continue with an ongoing monthly plan, depending on how you’d like to work.
I’ll make sure everything is set up clearly either way, including guidance on managing the site if you’re taking it on yourself.
I can work with existing content where it makes sense, and we’ll review what’s available at the start of the project.
If content needs refining, reorganising or expanding, I can advise on what’s needed and how to approach it.
I work exclusively with WordPress, focusing mainly on new website projects to ensure a clearer structure and a smoother process.
If you already have a WordPress site, I can sometimes redesign or rebuild it into a more flexible setup. We’ll assess what can be reused during the initial discussion.
Ongoing care is available through my monthly plans when sites are hosted within my setup.
Yes. Your site will be built so it’s straightforward to update day to day.
If you’d rather not handle updates, hosting and ongoing care yourself, I can continue supporting the site through a monthly plan.
Frequently asked questions about branding packs
The Starter branding pack focuses on establishing your core visual identity, such as logo, colours and fonts.
The Brand Essentials pack includes everything in the Starter pack, plus practical assets such as templates and supporting materials, so your branding is consistent across all channels beyond the website.
No. If you already have branding in place, we can design the website around it.
If you don’t have existing branding, we can still design a website with a simple, cohesive visual look tailored to the site itself.
A branding pack is an option if you’d like a clearer visual foundation that can be reused across other materials and makes the website design process smoother overall.
If you already have branding, we’ll review it and decide whether it can be used as-is, lightly refined, or evolved.
In some cases, a small branding refresh is enough rather than a full pack. We’ll discuss this during the initial stages and agree on the best approach.
Branding packs are typically completed over 2-4 weeks, depending on scope and feedback.
If the branding work is part of a larger website project, it will be completed first to inform the site’s design.
Yes. The branding is designed to be reusable across your website and other materials, such as documents and presentations.
You’ll receive the core assets and guidance needed to apply the branding consistently as your work grows.
No. These packs provide a clear, practical visual identity, not a full-scale brand strategy, naming or market research.
They’re designed for clients who want something considered and professional without the scope, complexity or cost of a large branding agency.
Frequently asked general questions
I mainly work with research groups, businesses and solo professionals.
My clients often value clarity, thoughtful design, and a collaborative approach to working, and want a website that supports their work over time rather than feeling static or disposable.
That’s completely fine. You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.
I’ll ask the right questions to help clarify your goals, priorities and options, and we’ll shape the next steps together.
I work remotely, and most collaboration happens via email, with video calls when it’s helpful to talk things through.
Communication is kept clear and structured to use both our time thoughtfully and keep progress steady.
The easiest way to get started is to reach out and share a bit about what you’re working on, whether you already have a specific plan in mind or not.
I’ll review the details, follow up with any questions, and we’ll usually then have a call to discuss next steps.
Yes, selectively. I use AI tools to support research, summarise information, refine written content, and improve internal workflows where they add value.
Design decisions, structure and implementation are always human-led. AI can support the work, but it doesn’t replace thoughtful design, judgement or ongoing care.
